Most beginner importers make the same mistake:
They message a supplier and immediately ask for pricing.
Here’s the truth: starting a factory conversation the wrong way can get you ignored, overcharged, or stuck with a bad supplier.
In this video, I share the exact steps I use when contacting new factories overseas — whether it’s in Vietnam, China, or anywhere else:
1. Ask about MOQ — the minimum order quantity
2. Ask about lead time — how long it takes to produce and ship
3. Request photos or a short video of their packaging and production line
4. Ask if they’ve worked with U.S. buyers — and request examples
These questions do two things:
• They show that you’re serious and experienced
• They help you filter out middlemen, unreliable suppliers, and time-wasters
Only after I get clear answers to those questions do I talk about price.
This one shift has helped me build long-term, reliable factory relationships — and saved me thousands.
✅ Don’t just sound like a buyer. Sound like a professional.
